  • Week 3 - Anthropology: Who is Man?DateSat Jan 23, 2010 8:36 am
    Topic by stevemb01. Forum: Welcome!

    Hi All,

I’m looking forward to our meeting, Sunday, 6:30 PM, our place, as we continue our study in The Truth Project, Tour 4.

The Maisons agreed to bring a treat this week. Thanks Larry and Karen!
    2 Timothy 1:7-8 (NIV)
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
8 So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God,

Let us recall these verses as we confidently seek those we can share this week’s application questions.

I recently spoke with Pastor Barry who shared with me how he approached a customer in the car dealer service repair waiting room with this week’s questions. Barry said she was cooperative appreciated the short conversation they had.

Again, the questions for lesson 3:
    • Do you believe evil exists in the world today? Why?
    • Do you believe man is basically good? Why?
    • Where do you draw the line between good and evil (assuming evil exists)?

    News articles

Here’s an article from yesterday’s Seattle Times on how to deal with in life from an Islamic perspective. What do you think? Is the author correct?

God Bless, and see you all Sunday evening.

I trust you have given some thought to Tour 1 in your devotion time. Post and share your thoughts and question here with the “reply” button.

Scott Wilson summarized the program's impact on us when he said “it will comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable.” Hopefully we will begin to be transformed toward a deeper spiritual relationship with Jesus as we feel “disturbed” by these discussions.

Here’s an example of cultural truth vs. lies I came across recently. The attachment and link below is by PI columnist Jim Moore justifying Tiger Wood’s recent fall from grace. What do you think?

Hi All and welcome to our Care Circle.

Congratulations for making it to this forum. This may be a first for Care Circles. I thought this would be neat to try. It may help us enhance getting to know each other better and make up for the reduced relationship building time in our meetings.

One nice feature about this forum is a calendar. As you register, if you like you can enter your birthday so we can plan little birthday celebrations. (The year entry is optional -- just enter 2010.)
My bio – I’m 55 and Jane Marie and I have been attending Highlands CC since 2000 when we moved from Vancouver, WA to Renton. We met and were married in north Seattle in 1987 and moved to Vancouver when I was hired by Horizon Airlines as a pilot. I’ve been working there ever since. Prior to Horizon, I worked for Boeing in customer support for seven years after graduating from the UW in engineering.

I classify myself as a “cradle Christian” being baptized and raised in the Catholic Church, and attended Catholic grade school through the eighth grade. I dropped out of the church in college, naturally, but rededicated my life to Christ after graduation when a friend introduced me to the nondenominational church Calvary Fellowship. Jane Marie and I met here and were married by pastor Wayne Taylor..

Our children are Tyler, age 16, Aaron, age 14, and Nathan, 12. We began our Care Circle about two years ago and are very excited to be hosting The Truth Project and to meet more Highlands CC members.
